Here we go Ristorante Paradiso 3, more of a mellow episode with nothing TOO spectacular happening.
In the opening scene we are shown what looks to be a confrontation between a lady and Claudio asking him when he was going to take the ring off. She goes off to say he led her on and said a bunch of nice things…then you hear another mans voice and it’s not Claudio, he was just in the same area. This scene is well done as it showcases the problems that plague Claudio at the moment and is one possible type of confrontation between him and Nicoletta.
After the OP Nicoletta, Furio, and Teo are taking a stroll in the local marketplace which is always an area sprawling with life and activity in any European country and in fact most of the world. The few that I’ve been to in the US have been quite lacking in the sense of energy and fresh products offered but that’s maybe cause I’ve only been to a few. The best one I went to was in California which was an awesome day to go out.
Anyways~ We get a scene where they’re at Maurios stall and it seems this is where they go for ingredients if they ever need some in between their deliveries. After an inquiry about Teo’s love life the scene switches to a law firm. Uh oh someone’s in trouble! Haha just kidding, it’s actually where Nicoletta’s mom works and Gabrielle also happens to be working there. Gabrielle talks about how Nicoletta is much like her mother and how she thinks Nicoletta has the wrong idea about her and Claudio that one time she saw them talking. Gabrielle says the situation between is not like that and states that Claudio is holding onto the ring because he lost his chance to take it off. Now for sure we know she has no feelings for Claudio so Nicoletta has the green to go. But how does Claudio feel? I guess we’ll have to find out.
After Olga gets whisked away to her clients we go back to the kitchen of the ristorante where everyone seems to notice that Nicoletta is obviously down on her luck. Claudio receives some advice from Luciano, such a thoughtful guy. Some more transitioning pieces showing the customers, the kitchen, and Nicoletta day dreaming in the kitchen.
In here we find Gigi bargaining with the owner for some wine he has been searching for and we also learn that Vitos wife is still in college. Ballin. After some inquiry about a relationship with age differences Furio’s wife enters the fray for some wine sipping. After a heavy sigh from Nicoletta about happy couples we move onto the next scene.
Claudio happens to meet Gabrielle as he’s walking home but refuses an offer to go drink. Strange I thought he was looking with those “longing eyes”. Claudio goes back to his dark apartment where he breathes a heavy sigh. Everyone is sighing, sheesh. As Nicoletta returns, uh oh, Mom’s there waiting for her. No biggie though she just has a bunch of clothes for her daughter. Some mother daughter talk time, mainly about her love life. Nicoletta seems unsure of whether it’s really love or not that drives her to go after Claudio. She’s happy when he’s around and etc. The usual things you feel when you are in love. To which Olga replies:
Getting counseling or advice when you have love troubles is always a welcome. I wish I could talk to my parents easily about things even as old as I am now, maybe the day will come. Nicoletta switches gears and asks her mom about when she met her current husband (technically her new dad if you look at it like that). She replies simply “Love at first sight”.
Seeing her mother is such a happy lifestyle Nicoletta feels both envy and depression at the thought of it. Things will get better, you’re the main character after all!! Don’t mind!! A little work and before dinner time meal and we see Nicoletta picking some of the herbs the ristorante grows in the back for cooking usage. Claudio walks over and tries to reassure her that if she ever needs help he will be there. After assuming she was thinking about his relationship with Gabrielle she says that’s not the case but instead is thinking of something else. Mainly about the owner’s wife and envy at how happy she is as a fellow woman. Claudio tries to cheer her up by saying that she and the owner’s wife are alike in many ways. Then this comes along…..
Nicoletta explains the situation about her mom wanting to marry the owner and asks Claudio to keep it a secret. While venting her frustration Claudio also draws parallels to their similarities, about him and Gabrielle. They’re both similar in a sense. While on the topic of revealing secrets we get this too:
After the epic scenery Claudio reassures that whenever Nicoletta needs someone to talk to he will be there. With that they both reconcile (even though nothing was really wrong in the first place) and head back to where everyone else is. A very heartwarming conclusion to the episode. The episode started out with some initial problems but with help from the people around them they are able to continue moving onward and while not completely different, the situation has turned out better. Some new characters introduced mainly Angela and a new setting introduced, the Enoteca which is one awesome place. Wish there was something like that around Orlando (gonna go searching). In times of need it’s always better to talk to people.
Next episode takes place in the past, a prequel of sorts. Look forward to it.
